Miller Nurseries is a mail order nursery located just south of Canandaigua,
NY. They sell a variety of fruits trees, vegetables and gardening supplies,
both through their garden store as well as their widely distributed catalog.
They were looking for a way to update their web site and add shopping cart
technology.
The Problem: Accommodating Multiple Pricing
Structures With An On-Line Catalog
Miller Nurseries wanted to be able to offer their web customers all of the
products and pricing options. This presented a challenge for a number of
reasons.
First, almost all of the products Miller Nurseries sells are have volume
pricing discounts based on the number of a product purchased. Certain
products can be mix and matched to qualify for this volume discount such as
different varieties of apple trees.
Second, some products have bulk pricing such as 25 for $10, 50 for $15.
These products also need to mix and match with products in their product
groups.
Third, the website needed to be launched in time for the late fall catalog
drop, which was only three months away.
The Solution:
Working together with
Mann Enterprises Aarons Consulting designed and built a database e-commerce
site that addresses all of the pricing issues in the Miller Nurseries
catalog.
We populated the product database with pricing, product groupings,
descriptions, pictures and all of the necessary information from the catalog
for more than 700 different products.
